Transportation to the Lodge at Stehekin

GETTING TO STEHEKIN:  We love our isolation, but it takes some extra planning for our guests.  To get to Stehekin our guests must plan to take The Lady of the Lake (boat ferry) from Chelan, or make the beautiful 23-mile hike from Highway 20 to High Bridge where you hop on the red bus to Stehekin.”

The Lodge at Stehekin is nestled on the glacial-formed Lake Chelan in the remote, unspoiled wilderness of the North Cascade Mountains in Central Washington and is only accessible by boat and hiking trails. Be sure to make arrangements for transportation before your trip.

Though some adventurers choose to make the long, rugged hike to the Lodge, most come by ferry boat or private boat. As of winter 2017, Chelan Seaplanes will no longer be operating to Stehekin.

Lady of the Lake Passenger Ferries

Lady of the Lake provides year-round transportation to the Lodge at Stehekin. Both ferries have morning departures and leave from the town of Chelan.

The Lady II transports you in style and takes a leisurely 4-hour journey. It can accommodate 285 passengers and offers a spacious deck for outdoor viewing of the beautiful picture postcard panorama.

The Lady Express can accommodate up to 130 passengers and offers a faster trip on the lake, making the cruise to Stehekin in 2.5 hours. The Lady Express may be a faster boat, but you can still enjoy the views and narration.

Rainbow Falls Tours:

During peak season, the Red Bus will take you on a 50-minute tour to the breathtaking 312-foot Rainbow Falls. Bus tours leave from Stehekin Landing twice daily and are narrated by a park ranger of the lower Stehekin Valley. Tour departures coincide with the arrival of Lady of the Lake passenger ferries.

Stehekin Valley Shuttle

The Stehekin Valley Shuttle provides transportation service in and around the area. Shuttles leave from the Lodge four times a day and travel to High Bridge located 11 miles away. High Bridge is the primary trailhead for a variety of hiking trails, including the Pacific Crest Trail. The buses make various stops along the route, including a stop at the Stehekin Garden and Pastry Company, which sells fresh organic seasonal vegetables and fruits, goat cheese, local honey, and homemade baked goods. This is a great way to take in the entire valley during the approximately two-hour trip.
